Personal Service of Process in Orange County, CA

Personal service means the papers are handed to the person named in them. It is the first method California law expects for a summons, and it is the core of every LegalServeX order.

How personal service works in California

Under California Code of Civil Procedure section 415.10, a summons is served by personally delivering a copy of the summons and the complaint to the person being served. Service is complete at the moment of delivery.

The papers must be delivered by an adult who is not a party to the case. A person making more than ten services of process in a calendar year for compensation generally must register under Business and Professions Code section 22350; statutory exemptions apply.

What you get with LegalServeX

Up to four attempts at one address for one recipient; remaining attempts stop after successful service.

A visit report for every attempt with the time, the outcome, GPS location and photos of the address (never of people).

A private portal where you follow each attempt as it happens and download the signed proof once it is released.

Helping the first attempt succeed

Give the full address including unit, a description or photo of the person if you have one, the best days and times, and any gate or access instructions. Good details save attempts.
